SHIELD PROJECT
The CDC funded SHIELD Project, led by the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, aims to improve quality of HIV service delivery across all implementing partners by:
- Instituting a standardized M&E processes in routine data quality assessment and improvement (DQA&I) with a goal of establishing a national-level DQA&I framework;
- Conducting PEPFAR outcome evaluation initiatives;
- Supporting the strengthening the National DHIS and National Data Repository; and
- Executing the sustainable, National HIV/AIDS clinical quality improvement initiative, NigeriaQual.
Mission
HIV epidemic control is achieved by implementing high quality programs that are guided by accurate data. The SHIELD team provides technical leadership to advance Nigeria PEPFAR’s health monitoring, evaluation and improvement programs by creating tools to improve health information, collecting and analyzing data, disseminating information and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
